Find Evangeline Parish Jail Releases

To find someone released from Evangeline Parish Jail, start with the booking agency and the specific booking episode. Evangeline Parish release records can show that a person left sheriff custody, yet that event may lead to the community, another jail, state custody, or immigration detention. The public sheriff view is useful for a recent release. Older or more detailed facts require the underlying jail entry, a court record, or the locator run by the agency that received the person. Each source answers a different part of the release question.

Evangeline Jail Release Destinations

An entry in the EPSO Released view is direct evidence that the listed Evangeline Parish Jail booking closed at the displayed time. It does not identify the reason for departure. The card also does not say where the person went. A person may return to the community after bond, a judicial order, or completion of time. Another person may leave the building under transfer to Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections custody, another parish, a federal authority, or ICE.

Start with the release timestamp and booking number. Then match the next source to the unresolved question. The 13th Judicial District Court record can show bond action, dismissal, time served, sentencing, or another judicial act. The Louisiana imprisoned-person locator can show continuing state legal custody even when a sentenced person is no longer at the parish jail. A receiving jail or federal locator may confirm a transfer. Direct EPSO confirmation is the best path when the public card is silent.

Important: Leaving the EPSO roster proves departure from one booking, not unrestricted release into the community.

Confirm Evangeline Jail Release

The public roster separates Current and Released results. Search the person's first or last name, then compare the photograph, age, booking number, booking date, and listed charge. A profile may contain more than one booking episode. Keep each booking date and number paired with its own release event. A release tied to one episode does not resolve another hold.

  1. Open the EPSO roster and choose Released, or use the newest-release link.
  2. Match more than the name. Compare age, photograph, booking date, and booking number.
  3. Write down the exact release date and time, booking number, page address, and access date.
  4. Open the profile and separate any prior or later booking episodes.
  5. Call detention staff or request the underlying entry if the release reason or destination matters.
  6. Check the court, Louisiana DOC, ICE, BOP, or another jail when continued custody is plausible.

Bond and charges shown on the card remain booking fields. Bond on the screen is not proof that bond caused release, and a charge label is not the final case result. For a durable disposition, obtain the relevant court minute or order. The broader Evangeline Parish released-inmate search and record path explains how these sources fit together.

Note: A person missing from both Current and Released needs direct verification because the public release view is short-lived.

Evangeline Jail Release Fields

The public Released card provides a precise but limited snapshot. It can display a photograph, name, booking number, age, release date and time, booking date and time, charges, bond, and a profile link. It omits the release authority, reason, destination, transfer agency, supervision status, and sentence-completion status. Those missing fields are why the card should be paired with a focused record request when the next custody step matters.

Public fieldWhat it establishes
Booking numberIdentifies the specific EPSO booking episode
Booking date and timeMarks the intake event shown on that card
Release date and timeMarks departure from the identified EPSO booking
Charge and bondShows booking data, not the final disposition or release method

The underlying EPSO list has stronger local documentation. A completed federal settlement required an electronic list updated at each booking and release and retained for at least ten years after release. Required list fields included identity, case status, offenses, booking time, bond, next court date, and release date if known. That internal retention rule does not promise ten years of public website visibility, and current exemptions or redactions still apply.

The related case-file requirement adds context for a precise request. It covered the warrant or probable-cause affidavit and other incarceration material, including booking forms and transportation logs. Not every item is automatically public. A requester can name the release entry or transfer record needed instead of assuming that the short public profile is the only record. EPSO's custodian still applies current law to each requested field.

Request Evangeline Jail Records

For a past release or a missing destination, use the EPSO public-records form. Print, sign, and date it. Submit the form to the Custodian of Records at 415 West Cotton Street, Ville Platte, Louisiana 70586, by fax at 337-205-5866, or by email to monica.devillierreed@leo.gov. The form says not to attach payment. EPSO sends an estimate first, and records are released after the stated fee is paid.

Ask for the releasable booking-and-release entry for a named person, a narrow date range, and a known booking number. Request the booking timestamp, release timestamp, release type or authority, receiving agency if transferred, and booking photograph if lawfully releasable. Electronic copies can reduce paper. Ask the custodian to identify the legal basis for any withheld or redacted field. Avoid seeking medical, juvenile, sealed, victim-identifying, or other protected material without lawful entitlement.

The posted copy schedule is $1 per page for the first 25 pages and $0.50 per page after that. A double-sided sheet counts as two pages. Disk, CD, or flash media are listed at $15. Wait for the estimate, then follow EPSO's money-order directions. If payment is not received within ten working days, the form warns that a new request may be needed.

Evangeline Jail Contact Details

Official sources list more than one Ville Platte location and telephone number. The state directory gives 200 Court Street and 337-363-6664, with fax 337-363-7390. EPSO also lists an administrative office at 200 Court Street, Suite 100, the West Cotton Street location, and a 24-hour main line at 337-363-2161. Individual released profiles display 337-336-8687 for detention verification. Preserve each number's context when calling.

The EPSO website uses both “Evangeline Parish Jail” and “Evangeline Parish Detention Center.” They refer to the parish system for this release path. No source clearly labels a public release door. Call before travel or pickup and ask where a driver may wait, which entrance is in use, and whether property-return instructions differ from release pickup.

The contact screen supports calling the correct office before relying on a website entry or attempting an in-person pickup.

Note: Ask staff to confirm the booking number because the public profile can contain more than one booking episode.

Evangeline Jail ICE Transfers

Evangeline Parish contains two immigration detention centers: Pine Prairie ICE Processing Center and South Louisiana ICE Processing Center in Basile. Neither is part of the EPSO jail roster. An ICE detainer can request advance notice and up to 48 extra hours of custody so ICE can assume custody. An EPSO release timestamp can therefore mark a handoff to immigration authorities instead of a return to the community.

When an immigration transfer is plausible, use the ICE Online Detainee Locator with the A-number and country of birth, or exact biographical details. An absent result is not final proof of release. It may reflect a transfer, removal, data delay, identity mismatch, coverage limit, or another custodian. Contact ICE or the named facility and request the transfer or release record when the outcome must be established.

Detainer
A request that another agency notify ICE and briefly maintain custody for pickup.
Transfer
Movement from one custodian to another without a community release.
Release
Departure from the named booking or custody system, which may still lead to supervision or another authority.

Evangeline Jail Release Entrance

EPSO announced in 2024 that construction had begun on a new jail at the Ward 1 police-jury yard. The announcement does not establish that the project is complete, that operations moved, or that a new public release entrance is active. Treat it as a practical reason to call ahead, not as proof of the present site.

EPSO policy also addresses a person released at midnight when family or transportation is absent. The policy says the person remains in back with a corrections officer rather than waiting in front. A person who elects to walk leaves through the sally port. That detail does not create a universal midnight schedule. It does show why drivers should coordinate pickup, ask where they may wait, and confirm the current exit before arrival.

Property return should be confirmed on the same call. A roster card does not show a property receipt or tell a driver where staff will complete release. Ask whether processing is complete before leaving for the facility. When transportation is delayed, detention staff, not an address inferred from the website, can give the current instruction.

Note: The new-jail announcement changes no release record by itself and does not identify the present pickup door.
